Top 10 Meals under $10
It’s amazing what $10 can get you around the Heights at lunchtime. Being a self-acclaimed foodie, I found it was tough narrowing down my ten favourite dishes.
Chad Thai has an extensive lunch menu with an assortment of dishes for under $10. Our favourite dish that is sure to satisfy a hungry appetite is their Green Curry with Chicken.

For a deliciously light meal, we quite enjoyed their Pork Belly Sliders. The three pillowy white steamed buns are filled with delicious braised pork belly, pickled mustard greens, carrot, caramelized onion, and a honey sriracha sauce.

Sfinaki Greek Taverna
For a taste of the Mediterranean, make sure to stop by Sfinaki and try the Gyro with grilled lamb, fresh tomatoes, onions, and tzatziki, all wrapped in a warm seasoned pita.

Hiro Sushi is the place to go for great value and variety. The Bento Box features salad, rice, fruit, miso soup, 6 pieces California Roll, and your choice of either 1 piece of Tuna and 1 piece Salmon nigiri, 3 pieces of Spring Roll, or 4 pieces of Tempura along with either Beef, Chicken, or Salmon Teriyaki.

Double One Chinese Restaurant
Between 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Double One offers more than 30 items on their menu for $6.50. Whether you’re in the mood for fried rice or chow mein, their lunch menu has it all. Our favourite was the Cod Filet with Bean Curd on Rice.

For authentic ramen, Hakkaku Ramen is absolutely one of the best ramen restaurants in Burnaby. The Miso Ramen is topped with chashu (choice of shoulder or belly slow cooked pork), bean sprouts, onion, corn, bamboo shoot, and green onion. The rich and flavourful soup is sure to satisfy your ramen cravings.

The Valley Bakery
For a quick bite, The Valley Bakery offers an array of savoury pastries to hold you over. The Meat Pies and Chicken Pies are delicious with good ol’ fashioned bakery prices.

Sandwiches and wraps are Lotus Cafes specialty, there are a ton of different toppings to pick from. The Deli Sandwiches are home-made with simple ingredients like lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, mustard, and a touch of mayo. You’re able to choose from an assortment of fresh bread, including, Portuguese buns, Ciabatta buns, Whole Wheat, Multigrain Flax, Ancient Grain, or Sour Dough.

Triple Coconut Tree
Triple Coconut Tree’s prices can’t be beat with a majority of their menu being under $10. Whether you’re craving soup, satay, or vermicelli, Triple Coconut Tree will satisfy all your Vietnamese cravings.

To end off the list, Dairy Queen offers meal deals for only $6. Meals come with either a Chicken Wrap (crispy or grilled) or a Deluxe Cheeseburger, and includes, fries, a medium drink, and a small sundae.
