The Heights Merchants Association (HMA), representing more than 360 businesses supports the BRT Purple Line with a BRT Station at Boundary Road, where our district begins.
The HMA supports a Boundary alignment of this BRT route and opposes a Hastings-Willingdon alignment. The HMA believes there would be unintended consequences to a BRT alignment that would cut through our district along Hastings Street, east of Boundary. The underlying reasons for our preference all point to retaining the district’s accessibility and viability.
To thrive, our street-facing shops and offices must remain relevant and accessible to all our shoppers, especially the local customers who live within 2 to 5 km and patronize our businesses the most. They are the ones who would be most disrupted by a BRT Line.
We hope this page will answer some questions arising from the HMA’s position.
