What originally started as a part-time investment for Bill and Jean Verdi has now blossomed into a full-time job.
Bill, a former semi-professional soccer coach and player, and Jean, a business professional, researched at a lot of companies and franchises, but they felt that The UPS Store franchise was best. Both new to this industry, they opened the store on the Heights five years ago.
Recently, Bill and Jean brought on two very talented people – Charmaine Muzyka, a graphic designer, and Graham Ling, a marketing consultant. With Graham’s help, Jean’s aim is to make it a full-service store. Although many associate the store solely with shipping and photocopying, Graham says that they can do anything and everything for any sized business. “With Charmaine on-site, we can satisfy everyone’s marketing needs. She’s able to turn work around quickly, providing our clients with a high quality of work in a short span of time,” illustrates Graham.
Besides shipping, photocopying, and marketing, the UPS store can become your business office. With mail boxes in store, businesses can have their very own mobile office. The team at The UPS Store want to make doing essential business functions a pleasure. Quite simply, The UPS staff wants their customers to have an “awesome experience,” says Graham.
Being a franchise, Bill and Jean had the choice to open their new business in other locations, but they chose the Heights. “We really liked this area because of the sense of community and family spirit here. It has more than met our expectations,” says Jean. This sense of community is important to Bill, a volunteer with Big Brothers. He also volunteers at a local school and has provided The UPS Store as an avenue for special needs children to gain work experience.
As a Heights shopper, Jean appreciates what the Heights has to offer. When she’s not busy running the store, she enjoys indulging at one of many restaurants on the Heights and spending time in the outdoors. Both Bill and Jean also enjoy spending quality time with their family, something Heights merchants and residents understand very well.
