Peace and tranquility on the Heights, one yoga pose at a time.
Debbie Dawkins, owner of Heart Centre Yoga, has always had a passion for wellness.
While her original intention was to be a personal trainer, her enthusiasm for yoga was much stronger. That’s when Debbie decided to fuse her past experiences in office management with yoga, opening the studio in October 2007. And a special studio it is. An escape in the heart of the city, Heart Centre is the only dedicated yoga studio on the Heights.
By living in North Burnaby, Debbie believed that the Heights was the ideal location to open a yoga studio. Debbie sums it up best – “yoga is all about community,” and that, she feels, “is the best part about the Heights.” She appreciates the cultural and business diversity of the Heights, and loves the neighborhood feel of the area. Tired of driving into Vancouver for classes, Debbie determined that the Heights needed its own yoga studio, a unique addition to the other recreational facilities available on the Heights.
Debbie enjoys shopping in the Heights area and when she’s not busy running the studio, teaching a class or volunteering her time. Debbie also enjoys hiking on Burnaby Mountain, kayaking and more!
