Hats Off Day 2012 Parade Award Winners
The Heights is taking its hat off to its first-ever parade float winners.
We recently announced the winners and honourable mentions of our 2012 Hats Off Day parade. The parade is at the heart of Hats Off Day, which boasts an array of fun and excitement for all ages – including a vintage car show, music, performances, kids’ activities, and taste bud-tantalizing food from the local merchants.
Taking place every year since 1989, the Hats Off Day parade showcases a colourful march of a variety of representative groups with ties to the community. Awards are presented to honour parade participants who demonstrate an exceptional level of achievement in specific categories, with this year’s categories consisting of the following: Best Overall Entry; Best Parade Theme; Most Creative Entry; Most Imaginative Merchant; and Best Community/Cultural Group.
“A big congratulations to all the winners and honourable mentions of this year’s Hats Off Day parade! Each of these groups has demonstrated a unique approach and outstanding contribution in their participation in the parade, centered on the theme of multiculturalism,” said Isabel Kolic, executive director at the Heights Merchants Association.
