The parade is at the heart of the well-loved annual Hats Off Day street festival that boasts an array of fun and excitement for all ages –including a vintage car show, music, performances, kids’ activities, and taste bud-tantalizing food from the local merchants. Since 1989, the Hats Off Day parade has showcased a colourful march of a variety of groups with ties to the community. Awards are presented to participants for the following categories: Best Overall Entry; Best Parade Theme; Most Creative Entry; Most Imaginative Merchant; and Best Community/Cultural Group. Winners were treated to breakfast treats and coffee at a reception at Vancity. They also received a special hint for the theme of next years event, which will be announced publicly in the coming weeks.
