Halloween belongs in the neighbourhood, and nowhere is this more true than on the Heights. On the Heights, Halloween is the true folkloric event that it's meant to be - safe, fun and a celebration of a good spooking! The Heights merchants are proud to be a part of this tradition, making local children's memories special.
Each year the Heights gets "haunted" with activities for all ages. You can enjoy festive fireworks, trick-or-treating with Heights merchants, and a spooky train ride at Confederation Park's Burnaby Central Railway.
Start the fun early with a ride on the Halloween Trains in the Dark on both Oct. 29 and 30 from 6 to 9
p.m at Confederation Park. Then on Monday, Oct. 31 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.,
Hastings Street from Boundary to Gamma will be buzzing with little
ghosts and goblins. Participating Heights merchants will hand out candy
and treats to anyone in costume. The excitement continues with with fireworks at (approx.) 8:00 p.m. at Gilmore Community School.
New this year will be a pumpkin patch on the Heights on Saturday, Oct. 22 from 12 - 2 p.m. at Heights Fountain Square. Kids can pick their perfect pumpkin and enjoy hot chocolate and treats. In exchange for a pumpkin, please bring a non-perishable food item for the local food bank. We are also collecting new or gently used waterproof hooded winter coats in support of the Rotary Coats for Kids campaign.
Also new this year will be
Spooky Boogey in
the Heights, a Halloween event hosted at Dance Addicts Studio (4622 Hastings Street), where your kids
and teens will get to look like skeletons while dancing to Michael Jackson's “Thriller!” Dress your children aged 7 to 18 in dark clothing,
and Dance Addicts will get them glowing in their spooky light on Sunday, Oct. 30 from 1 - 4 p.m.. Participation is by donation,
with all proceeds going to the BC Children’s Hospital. This event is brought to you by your friends at Dance Addicts Studio, Pinocchio Art and Craft and DK Lighting. For more details, please call
604-830-1326.
Be sure to join our deliciously spooky (but not too spooky!) festivities filled with yummy
treats and a magical touch of community spirit!
